Hotel Ynez in Solvang: A Review of This Charming Hotel

Gorgeous & Peaceful Property with Lovely Shared Spaces

When you arrive at Hotel Ynez, you’ll immediately see the spacious, incredibly tranquil garden, which is set underneath large oak trees. 

This shared outdoor space is complete with fire pits, plenty of daybeds and comfortable chairs, and a bocce ball court. It’s the perfect place to soak up the sun or enjoy a glass of wine during sunset!

In addition to the outdoor space, there is a really lovely, cozy lounge in the lobby, complete with a fireplace and bookcases filled to the brim with books and curated art pieces. Right next to the lobby is a small dining space where coffee, tea, and infused water is offered each morning (they also offer both dairy and non-dairy milk, which I really appreciated!). 

Since it’s a smaller hotel (and set away from the main town center), the entire property also felt very peaceful and quiet. It was ideal for a slow-paced, relaxing trip!

Comfortable & Beautifully Designed Rooms

Hotel Ynez offers a few different room types, each with their own unique features. 

All rooms have some sort of outdoor space, which I think is an incredible perk. Some have front patios that overlook the main gardens, each of which has seating and hammocks. There are also rooms with more private back patios with their own fire pits (and in some cases, outdoor soaking tubs!). 

I booked the House Superior room at Hotel Ynez. It has a comfortable queen bed, a well-stocked mini bar with snacks and drinks available for purchase, as well as a back patio with a private fire pit. There was also plenty of space for storing our two suitcases without them getting in the way. 

I also very much appreciated the full-length mirror, as well as the skylight above the bathroom vanity (which provided great lighting for doing my makeup). 

One quirk about this specific room is that the entrance is right off the lobby. That was very explicitly said in the listing, so I knew what to expect…but it did sometimes feel weird being so close to the front desk! There are two entrance doors into the room, so that helps block out noise from the lobby (and to be clear, I didn’t experience any noise issues during my stay). That said, if I were to book another stay, I’d likely choose one of the other rooms just to be a touch more removed from the lobby. 

Bikes for Exploring the Area

While I didn’t use them during my stay, the hotel provides Linus bikes that you can borrow to explore the area. Conveniently, there is a bike path that runs from Solvang to Santa Ynez (right along Mission Drive) that is located across the street from the hotel. If you book a stay, I highly recommend taking a bike over to Santa Ynez in the morning and grabbing a bite to eat at The Baker’s Table!

Ideal Location for a Santa Ynez Trip

The location was perfect for a Santa Ynez getaway. It’s a quick drive away from the town centers of Solvang, Santa Ynez, and Los Olivos, and near many great wineries (including Brave and Maiden, which is a favorite of mine!). Most destinations that you’ll visit during a Santa Ynez Valley trip are less than a 15-minute drive away. 

It’s not within walking distance of the town of Solvang, but I didn’t find that to be a problem, given how close it was by car (or bike!). Plus, you need to drive to get between the different towns and wineries in the area anyway!

Hotel Ynez: Would I Stay Again?

I’d happily book another stay at Hotel Ynez! As mentioned above, I’d likely choose another room (I have my eye on the Garden Superior room!), but I think it’s the perfect stay for a chill getaway to this beautiful part of the Central Coast.
