15 Best Vegan Restaurants in Los Angeles
As a vegan in Los Angeles, there are almost too many vegan restaurants to go to – not that I’m complaining! No matter your budget or what you’re craving, you can easily find a plant-based restaurant in LA that will fit your needs. I’ve spent plenty of time eating my way through the LA food scene, and have created the ultimate guide to some of the best vegan restaurants in Los Angeles. In this list, you’ll find lots of fully plant-based spots, as well as a few vegan-friendly restaurants.
The Best Vegan Restaurants in Los Angeles
Heads up: I’ve tried to generally organize this list by area of Los Angeles, but note that many restaurants have multiple locations.
1. Pura Vita in West Hollywood and Redondo Beach
Great for: Date Night, Dinner
If you’re craving classic Italian food, you’ll love Pura Vita – which is hands down the best vegan Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. They’ve created decadent vegan versions of the classic pasta dishes you know and love, and also have delicious appetizers and amazing pizzas. Pura Vita also often has great specials. Bonus: the portions are very generous (I always walk away with leftovers!).
What to Get: The Carbonara and the Bruschetta are my absolute favorites. The Tiramisu is also the perfect ending to a great meal!
2. Gracias Madre in West Hollywood
Great For: Date Night, Brunch, Happy Hour, Dinner
Gracias Madre is a fully plant-based Mexican restaurant with great food and incredible cocktails. The gorgeous outdoor patio (complete with string lights, a fireplace, and olive trees) and perfectly decorated interior create the perfect environment for a fun meal out!
What to Get: The menu is always evolving, but if you see them on the menu, the Chicharron Tacos are insanely good. To drink, I love the Sangria and the Purista Margarita. While it’s not something you’d typically order at a Mexican spot, if you’re there for brunch, Gracias Madre has (in my opinion) some of the best vegan pancakes in Los Angeles!

3. Tu Madre in West Hollywood
Great for: Lunch, Casual Dinner, Late Night Eats, Outdoor Dining, Groups with Non-Vegan Eaters
This vegan-friendly place does tacos (obviously), but you can get any of their options in burrito or bowl form as well. In addition to more classic Mexican tacos, they have some fun inventive options – we’re talking Banh-Mi and Vegan Korean BBQ Tacos. Tu Madre is also one of the more budget-friendly spots in WeHo (it’s not cheap, but more affordable compared to other eateries in the area!).
Note: there are other Tu Madre locations around LA, but the WeHo location has the most extensive vegan menu. The WeHo location is also the only one that serves alcohol.
What to Get: I’d recommend tacos so that you can try different options. I especially loved the Fried Avocado and Eggplant Soyrizo tacos.
4. The Butcher’s Daughter in West Hollywood and Venice
Great for: Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, Happy Hour
The Butcher’s Daughter is a vegetarian cafe, juice bar, and full-service restaurant with plenty of great vegan dishes. The impeccably designed space has a bit of a greenhouse feel, and is a lovely place to dine on a sunny day. It is popular, so make sure to make a reservation (especially for weekend brunch!).
What to Get: Get the Pea and Fava Bean Hummus to share. The menu does change seasonally, but some of my favorite dishes include the “Chicken” Sandwich and the “Crab” Cake Sandwich. I’ve also had amazing waffles here for brunch, and their coffee and juice can’t be beat!

5. Sugar Taco in West Hollywood and Long Beach
Great for: Lunch, Casual Dinner
Sugar Taco takes an authentic (but vegan, of course) approach to delicious Mexican food. You can find many of your favorite Mexican dishes, from carne asada tacos to quesadillas to burritos. The space is bright and colorful, and they also have a nice outdoor patio.
What to Get: You really can’t go wrong with any of the tacos! Get a three taco plate to try different options. To drink, get the horchata. Finish things off with a churro donut (which is drool-worthy).
6. Crossroads Kitchen in West Hollywood and Calabasas
Great For: Date Night, Brunch, Dinner
Many would argue that Crossroads offers the best vegan food in Los Angeles – and I’d agree! The upscale, 100% plant-based restaurant offers delicious pasta dishes, as well as other Mediterranean-inspired food, cocktails, and dessert. They also have a great brunch menu.
What to Get: Start with the Artichoke Oysters – super creative and delicious! The Carbonara and the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka are delightful, as is the Eggplant Skirt Steak.
7. Planta in Brentwood and Marina Del Rey
Great For: Date Night, Brunch, Dinner, Happy Hour
One of the newer restaurants on the Los Angeles vegan scene is Planta, which has two locations. This has quickly become one of my favorite places to eat in LA. The 100% plant-based menu offers a range of options inspired by cuisines around the world, with some standouts being their sushi and pasta dishes. Their cocktails are also incredible, and they regularly have new, innovative specials on the menu.
What to Get: My two favorite dishes from Planta are the eggplant nigiri and the udon noodles. The bang bang broccoli is also one of their most popular dishes (and for a good reason!).
8. Doomie’s Home Cookin’ in Hollywood
Great for: Late Night Eats, Casual Lunch or Dinner
If you’re craving some fried comfort food, Doomie’s is the place. The unassuming fully vegan spot (which is located in a strip mall) has burgers, chicken fingers, french fries, chicken sandwiches, and more. It’s also open 24 hours on the weekend, and is the perfect spot to grab a late night bite after a bar crawl through Hollywood.
What to Get: The Fried Avocado is perfection, and I’m also a big fan of the Shrimp Po Boy.
9. SunCafe in Studio City
Great for: Breakfast, Lunch, Date Night, Dinner
From the street, SunCafe (which is 100% vegan) doesn’t exactly look exciting. But once you walk in, you’re completely transported to another space. There’s a sweet outdoor patio in front lit by string lights – complete with a fireplace! It is closed in by hedges and plants, so you’re blocked off from the busy Ventura Boulevard. There’s also a warm and cozy indoor dining room. The food is described as “rustic world cuisine” – AKA you can get delicious plant-based food inspired by places all over the world.
What to Get: Start off with the Buffalo Cauliflower for an appetizer. The Tempeh Burger and Pot Pie are both great, and the restaurant also offers lots of pies and cheesecakes for dessert!
10. H.O.P.E in Studio City
Great for: Date Night, Dinner, Take-Out
H.O.P.E is my go-to spot for take-out food, but they also have a modern and welcoming interior that is great for dine-in. The fully vegan menu is focused on Thai and Asian-inspired food, but it also includes some wild cards as well (like burgers, wraps, and nachos).
What to Get: I’ve stuck with the Thai food when I’ve gone. They have an excellent Tom Kha Kai (it comes with soy chicken, but I like to order it with tofu instead), as well as great Pad Thai. The Crispy Seaweed Quinoa Rolls are also a favorite to share.
11. Something Vegan in Toluca Lake
Great for: Take-Out, Casual Lunch or Dinner
Like H.O.P.E, this is one of those vegan restaurants that has a primarily Asian fusion menu, but also has random other dishes. But Something Vegan takes the variety to the next level. In addition to the many Thai inspired dishes, you have Carbonara, a ton of burgers, Lentil Soup, Nachos, and much more. Basically, there is something for everyone.
What to Get: The Green Avocado Curry is insanely good, so definitely get it if you’re a curry fan. You also can’t go wrong with the Thai Iced Tea!
12. HomeState in Los Feliz, Highland Park, Pasadena, Sherman Oaks, and Playa Vista
Great for: Casual Lunch and Dinner
While not a plant-based eatery, HomeState is a great vegan-friendly restaurant in Los Angeles – especially if you’re looking for a more affordable, chill spot. The Tex-Mex restaurant currently has two vegan taco options, as well as plenty of delicious sides and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
What to Get: The Emo’s taco (with refried black beans, guacamole, cabbage slaw, and pickled red onions) is my go-to. It might seem simple, but the high-quality ingredients make this taco excellent. Make sure to order it on a corn tortilla so that it’s vegan. You’ll also want a side of crispy potatoes (which are great dipped in salsa and guacamole!).
13. Monty’s in Echo Park, Koreatown, and Culver City
Great for: Casual Lunch or Dinner
Monty’s is one of the best spots if you’re looking for a good old-fashioned burger. This popular vegan restaurant often has a line (especially on weekends), so be ready for a wait!
What to Get: The menu is simple and straightforward, so go with your classic burger joint order! The tater tots are super good, and I love the onion aioli sauce. Beyond burgers, they also have a Chicken Sandwich and Chicken Tenders. The chocolate shake is also perfect for dipping fries (if you know, you know).
14. Shojin Sushi in Culver City
Great For: Date Night, Dinner
If you’re after vegan sushi in Los Angeles, Shojin is the place to be! This classic sushi spot has done an incredible job at creating mouth-watering plant-based rolls and other dishes. The DTLA location is in a strip mall, and is pretty unassuming at first. But once you enter, you’re transported into a lovely dimly lit restaurant!
What to Get: Start with the Shiso Gyoza – the best gyoza I’ve ever had! For rolls, the Dynamite Roll and the Kiss of the Spider Woman 2.0 are standouts.
15. Rahel Ethiopian in Little Ethiopia (Between Mid-Wilshire & Pico-Robertson)
Great for: Lunch, Dinner
I fell in love with Ethiopian food at Rahel’s, and can’t wait for the next time I visit! The restaurant serves 100% vegan Ethiopian food, with an emphasis on meat-free (and fake meat-free) stews and dishes. It’s located in the heart of Little Ethiopia, and offers very generous servings.
What to Get: One of the combination dishes is definitely the way to go so that you can try a variety of items. The Vegan Feast is great, and includes ten different items on top of injera (an Ethiopian flatbread). My partner and I have found that the one-person feast is still a lot of food – we’ve split it and still felt stuffed! I also recommend getting the 3D to drink. It’s a lightly sweet drink made with sunflower seed, flax seed, and barley.
